Dr. Rachel Eshel

Licensed Psychologist

In therapy, we will be curious together about your internal world and past and present experiences. I will help you understand the underlying reasons for your behavior, learn how to better manage distress, become more flexible and accepting, and feel more in alignment with your own values. Therapy will always involve spending the time to build a trusting relationship. We will identify areas of strength and concern, learn new skills, deepen understanding of self and others, and build on your inherent resilience.

For younger clients, therapy may also include playing, creating stories, and drawing. I collaborate with families, schools, and medical teams when it is appropriate to do so, and enjoy working with parents alongside their children.

My style in therapy is relational and warm, and my training includes:

  • Attachment-based treatment

  • Psychodynamic / insight-oriented therapy

  • Specialized training in perinatal mental health and reproductive psychology

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

  • SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)

  • Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) (treatment for child trauma and caregiver-child bonding)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including:

    • Trauma-Focused CBT (trauma treatment for children/families)

    • CBT for Insomnia

    • CBT for anxiety and depression

    • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) (trauma treatment for adults)

    • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
